Overview

Slack is a messaging platform for team communication. This integration connects Backline with Slack to notify teams about security events and automate remediation workflows directly in their channels.

What You Can Do

With the Slack integration, you can:
  • Receive real-time remediation alerts and updates
  • Get notified about security events in your workspace
  • Stay informed about vulnerability remediation progress

Prerequisites

Before connecting Slack, ensure you have:
  • A Slack workspace
  • Permission to install apps in your workspace
  • Access to the channels where you want notifications

Connecting Slack

Navigate to Integrations

In Backline, go to the Integration Hub from the main menu.

Select Slack

Find and click on the Slack integration card.

Authorize with OAuth

Click Connect to authorize using Backline Slack’s secure OAuth flow. You’ll be redirected to Slack to approve access.

Install Backline App

On Slack, review and approve the requested permissions to install the Backline app in your workspace.

Return to Backline

Once authorized, Backline will securely link to your workspace and redirect you back to the integration page.

Configure Channel

In the Configuration tab, select the channel where Backline will send messages and communicate with your team.

After Connection

Once connected, you can select channels where Backline will send real-time remediation alerts and updates about security events in your repositories.

Managing the Integration

Changing Channels

To send notifications to a different channel:
  1. Open the Integration Hub
  2. Click Configure on the Slack integration card
  3. In the Configuration tab, select a new channel
  4. Save your changes
